AKB48 is Serious about Internet Security

September 29, 2010

You should know that while AKB48 promotes fun, simple things like stores, clothes, and vegetable drinks, they also promote other interests…like internet security.

Watch this intensely shot CM for Kaspersky Lab’s security software featuring Maeda Atsuko:

If you need more security in your network, go ahead and pick this up; it’s endorsed by Maeda Atsuko and AKB48 research students, after all.

Or perhaps you’d want to pick this up along with a brand new NEC Lavie laptop computer, as promoted by the members of Watarirouka Hashiritai…in maid outfits:

If only they could have some awesome AKB promos to give away with these products, I bet they’d sell at least twice as many.

No3b album has new official release date

September 15, 2010

That’s right.

The much anticipated No3b album which was originally planned to release this month has been rescheduled to 2011, but it’s not too bad; the album’s official release date is now January 1st, 2011.

Honestly, it’s a welcome break to many AKB fans’ wallets, even if it means having to wait a few months longer.  Looks like I can purchase the Watarirouka Hashiritai album without feeling too guilty!

Releasing on New Years is definitely interesting.  It’ll be like a post-Christmas surprise gift to myself.

YES! album time!

September 8, 2010

watarirouka hashiritai, an akb subunit consisting of members watanabe mayu, ohta aika, hirajima natsumi, kikuchi ayaka, and nakagawa haruka, will have an album releasing on october 13, 2010.

the title of the album, ‘rouka wa hashiruna!’, translates to ‘no running in the hallway!’; a play on the name of the group which translates to ‘team running through hallways’.

i’ve been wondering when they would put out an album since they have a lot of songs under their belt already.  this is a must buy.

horror movie, schmorror movie.

August 24, 2010

every idol and their grandma are getting roles in horror movies, but this one, ‘X games’ or ‘batsu games’, actually looks somewhat disturbing.  it looks like it could be campy, cheap fun, but the crazy part is that nakagawa haruka is in this film; one of the most energetic and friendly girls from AKB48, and a member of the sub unit ‘watarirouka hashiritai’.

following the western trend of violence porn films like the ‘saw’ series, a group of students are trapped in a room, with a television and an eerie voice giving them directions to play twisted, deadly games.

the trailer doesn’t leave much to the imagination.

hmmmm…so do i watch this movie where she most likely dies in one of the most painful ways imaginable, or do i skip out on it, even though i’ve vowed to watch pretty much anything with nakagawa in it?

“do i look through a book with her in scantily clad clothing” is a different kind of contemplation from “do i watch this movie where people stick a branding rod into my idol’s neck”.  don’t you think so?

watarirouka hashiritai does it again

August 7, 2010

i wasn’t a huge fan of their last song, ‘seishun no flag’, but their newest single won me over.

the song is called ‘Gyu’, a japanese onomatopoeia used for hugs, as is clearly shown in the PV below.:

let it sink in and play in your head for the rest of the day.  great PV.  nakagawa haruka as the happiest girl in the world, and ohta aika living up to her reputation as the tsundere queen stole the show.  they need more spotlighting in akb48.

Watarirouka Hashiritai

June 17, 2010

for those who don’t know, ‘watarirouka hashiritai’ is a subgroup created in 2009 consisting of members watanabe mayu, ohta aika, nakagawa haruka, hirajima natsumi, and kikuchi ayaka.

(debut single ‘hatsukoi dash’)

what’s interesting is that this was announced by akimoto yasushi to be a reincarnation of his subgroup that existed with ‘onyanko club’, called ‘ushirogami hikaretai’.  just as akb48 was his successor to onkyanko club, it seems yasushi was nostalgic for his old subgroups as well.  perhaps we can expect a modern version of ‘ushiroyubi sasaregumi’ sometime.

many of the members themselves are big fans of anime, and it’s clear that they cater to that audience.  they’ve already provided songs for the anime ‘fairy tale’ and anime adaptation of the video game ‘blue dragon’.

(‘akkanbe bashi’)

their popularity has been growing steadily through the past year or so, having debuted with 10th place on the oricon charts, to nabbing the number one spot with their first 2010 single, ‘akkanbe bashi’, selling double the number of singles.

to say they are cute would be the understatement of the year.  their songs are saturated with sugar and fluff, but occasionally they provide interesting lyrics or musical choices that differentiate them from other bands that provide a similar sound.

(kanpeki gu-no ne)

my favorite single by them so far has to be ‘kanpeki gu-no ne’.  it has great energy, dance, and lyrics that supplement each other very well.

i’m not someone who enjoys and seeks out cute songs, so i think it says something when a group like watarirouka hashiritai can make me enjoy them.  maybe more than i should.

well, the main reason for this post was to show their newly released PV for their latest single, ‘seishun no flag’, which translates roughly to ‘flag of youth’.  it’s not blowing me away, but time will tell.  here it is!
